Jack

Oil on canvas

Let me just say that I am not a portrait painter. I paint portraits about as often as I paint flowers...which is almost never. Needless to say, I was out of my comfort zone while painting this piece. I think it turned out ok, but I may go back and work on it a bit more. Normally, I am extremely confident when I decide a piece is finished...not so much with this one.
By the way, Jack is my son and he is two.

Precious....your painting style remains evident in the soft flowing edges.

Todd,
I think you did a wonderful job on "Jack". Sometimes it's good to get out of our comfort zone. Well done!

Thanks Jean...I agree, it IS good to get out of the comfort zone occasionally!

Hi Todd, I've been following your site and think your work is great. It is good to get out of our normal routine and I was glad to see this portrait. From my 'fresh eyes' perspective I might lessen the values range (little less dark) in the crease above the eyebrow line. I think it would intensify his look of wonder a little more. Still it is very nice. Hope that no offense is taken. Again, your work is wonderful.

I love your approach to this portrait - the monochromatic palette lets me focus on Jack... and he is absolutely adorable!

I love the consistency in your style...this portrait is so very much a T Ford! Beautiful.

Your work is amazing, how long did it take to perfect your technique?
Some of your pieces are so technically perfect that they almost look lke photographs. I'm sure you know that. Did you go to art school? How much are you selling your work for, do you sell much of it? Wish I could catch one of the exhibitions you have posted. I'm in the UK in Yorkshire, I hope you have time to look at my work, perhaps. Paul

thanks Paul...my work is far from perfection, but I hope to continually improve.
I'll check out your stuff.
